Mortgage Victims Get Help
Topic Added November 9th, 2006 - Print This Story
There have been many stories in the media lately about mortgage fraud. Inflated appraisals, unscrupulous mortgage companies and even harmful neighbors who scalp their town of millions of dollars have made headlines over the past few months. Though state and national legislators are making attempts to curb the uprising of mortgage-related fraud, one group is helping the victims now.
The National Community Reinvestment Coalition, a nonprofit organization, is helping mortgage victims refinance out of their troubles. By addressing the homeowner’s specific problem, be it discrimination in rates or overly-high home values, the NCRC helps the homeowner pick a refinance program that gets them out of the fraudulent mortgage originally obtained. The NCRC obtains lower interest rates, pays all upfront fees and offers a rate reduction each year for good payment history. The organization is funded by state and local donations, and is affiliated with reputable mortgage professionals in the area that help each victim individually. For many victims of mortgage fraud, there seemed very little that could be done in the way of help. The NCRC has stepped in to fill that void, giving mortgage victims options and much needed help.
